9am-10:45 am: Session One:

Basic Science of Chemical Peels - Microdermabrasion
This opening session on basic science will discuss the structure and function of the skin, and the histologic changes that occur in the skin. Curriculum will describe the science behind various peeling agents used in aesthetic medicine and their role in chronologic aging or environmental aging.

Consultation and clinical skills
This session will address the many types of patients, and patient concerns. What effect will the peel have on the patients life-style. What risk or associated with the peel. Patient education, consent forms, post care instructions, digital photos, and documentation.

Topics:

  • Concentration of the peeling agent
  • How many coats of the agent are applied
  • Technique of application
  • How the skin was primed preceding the peel
  • Anatomic location of the peel
  • Duration of contact with the skin

2:00pm-3:00pm: Session Three:
Microdermabrasion and superficial skin resurfacing
One of important tools in a aesthetic practice is offering a variety of treatments that have little or no downtime. This session will address the scientifically and histologically improvement of the surface of the skin and integrity of underlying layers using microdermabrasion.

The clinical segment is working one-on-one focusing on microdermabrasion technique, including pressure, stroke angles,number of passes, and tautness of the skin.

Basic Fundamentals of photo-medicine
(lasers, and other light sources)

This comprehensive session will provide a full understanding of light energy, wavelengths, characteristics and applications. Expert faculty will discuss new techniques as well the clinical results of and guidance of patient selection to achieve a more positive patient experience and outcome.

This session will discuss various wavelengths and equipment used for tattoo removal.

This session will discuss energy-based skin treatments for skin resurfacing. Techniques and applications as well next generation technology. Skin resurfacing is expected to be the largest aesthetic market with an average growth of 19.3% for 2009-2012. Experts will discuss new techniques and applications as well as the clinical results of various fractional technologies and guidance on patient selection.
